Meet the Designer: Erin Starks

Hailing from Jackson, Michigan, I was born into a family of artists where being pegged as a ‘perpetual dreamer’ became a badge of honor. By the age of 4, my creative journey was well underway, channeling the broad spectrum of mesmerizing images from the kitsch, quirk and bright colors of pop culture I was always inspired by into my artwork.

As a teen, my family’s move to South Florida in the mid-80’s opened doors to new opportunities that further encouraged my ambitions. I found a kindred spirit in my high school best friend, whose father was a well-known Latin TV/radio producer. When we weren’t spending hours in his recording studio, his connections provided us privileges to witness the behind-the-scenes life of backstage press access and interviews for international bands during radio station promos and sold out concerts.

Upon graduating from Ringling College of Art & Design in the mid-90’s, I launched my freelance design company, Studioerin, that hit the ground running through word-of-mouth. I quickly began building a global clientele throughout entertainment media while earning accolades and being featured in numerous international design annuals. Over the course of several years, I wore many hats including a freelance photographer covering Justin Timberlake’s William Rast line during Miami Funkshion Fashion Week for Design Taxi magazine (Singapore), the logo designer for Gatsby Records (Florida) as well as the freelance designer for Music Aid Northwest (Seattle), creating their logo, website and annual poster campaigns. I was also featured as a contributing designer in the CD package for New Order’s tribute album, commissioned as the Art Coordinator for Kitchen Nightmares television show and developed a continuous long-standing collaboration relationship as Art Director/Designer for nationally renowned singer/songwriter Griffin Anthony, just to name a few.

In 2007, I was selected as a member of the Recording Academy (Grammy's). I continue to enjoy participating in community events, discovering new talent, networking with a multitude of colleagues and voting in both the National and Latin Grammy Awards each year.

After a lifetime of exploring, working and expanding skill sets, my enduring parallel passion of art and music has come full circle, evolving into the concept of Curious Palette Creative… I look forward to assisting you in bringing your vision and dream(s) to light.
